****Parting Words****
Well this is it for issue #6. A vague calm (I almost wrote clam, which would have been different and scary) has settled over the war-gaming world as people eagerly await the release of the 4th edition of the Warhammer 40,000 rules set. You can be sure that Chromiates will be at the forefront in analyzing what these changes mean and how they will affect you and your army. Remember to keep checking the forum often for this as well as our regular features, discussions and tactics articles.

Keep on Gaming,
Asmodai, and The Chromiates Wargaming Forums Team.

As always no squigs, squats, or chaos dwarfs were harmed in the creation of this newsletter, however, several electrons were inconvenienced.

****Forum’s Online Fantasy Campaign Starting Up Again****
Greetings, campaign members

Well, the campagin is now semi-officially underway. I've created the roster, but have only had time to post one battle, which, in a perverted twist of fate, had to be assigned to me (Technically to my friend, but it amounts to the same thing). I'll be away for the next week or so; during this time Warlord Mattticus and Prince DeVries will try their hand at battle creation, and chances are they'll be better at it then I am! A brief re-cap of the story thus far; Lord Barstein has decided, perhaps fatally, to attempt to unite all the races of the world under one banner. Few are following him, but he has become a bit of a cult favourite. A Greenskin Horde and a Dwarvish Hall has decided to put aside their difference for the sake of survival to hold off the looming threat of Chaos, specifically Skaven. Other factions of Greenskins and Dwarves find the idea repugnant, even blasphemous, and are determined to set them in their place. Most of the rest of the world has been torn asunder by inner conflict, from Barstein's rebellion in the Empire to outright civil war in Ulthuan.

The first round of campaign scenarios will be "testing the water," in a matter of speaking, to re-familiarate ourselves with the system and to aid newcomers. Nothing particularly earth-shattering there. I've designed a bit of a "tree" system, so that your next scenario will be based on whether you win or lose, and will therefore branch off into another segment of the campaign, In addition if anyone does not receive a battle, to PM Prince or Matti.
See you in a week.

Cheers,
Steve Hackett

As a side note, Steve H is now back!! So expect the campain to be up and going soon!

****Staff Member of the Month for July 2004: ^Raven^****
With this being our first weekly newsletter I decided to give June’s Staff/Member of the Month spot to myself to talk about the newsletter and recent gaming events. Long time members will realize that this is the first time we’ve ever produced a newsletter and may wonder why we’ve waited so long. The truth be told is we’ve been working so hard for the past year and a half to get CWF setup that producing a newsletter was beyond our means until now. Luckily we have a stellar staff and great core group of members who keep the forum going while also having a high level of activity. Without those great people, who know you are, it wouldn’t be possible for me to take the time to produce this issue of the newsletter.

The newsletter is our venue to bring what is hot, new, and important from the Chromiates Wargaming Forums to you in the hope that you’ll stay abreast of all the activity. With the forum having grown astronomically it can become overwhelming to stay up to date on all the threads and posts. Hopefully the newsletter will make that less overwhelming and more enjoyable. Each newsletter will contain news blurbs on key threads or posts along with forum information or news. In the last newsletter of the month a Staff Member or Member of the Month blurb will appear chronicling either a staffer or member. This will alternate to give everyone equal visibility. Near the bottom of each newsletter a list of hot, new, and important threads with links for you to visit.

We hope that everyone finds the newsletter enjoyable and that it succeeds in its mission.

****New Template****
Everything you have heard is true! At least, the rumors about a secret new template are true. You can read more about this at http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2305.0 for the inside story.

****June 2004 Stats****
The month of June 2004 was, what has become, an average month in terms of stats. It was neither spectacular nor an embarassment. We surpassed the records for June 2003 and are pleased by that. It shows continued growth. If you are interested in our stats please go to http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php?action=stats where you can see our stats from day 1 until today!

18 August 2004 @ 04:01 am
Hello Everyone,
Welcome to the weekly newsletter!! From now on, I Rinion will be
running the forums newsletter. I decided to take up the arduous task
or writing the newsletter in order to help the forum. My initial goals
are to help spread the word about not only whats happening in the
forum, but also about other things outside of it, like whats new from
Games Workshop. Anyway, enough about me, onto the newsletter! If any
forum members wish to contact me about anything relating to the
newsletter, or indeed if you would like something written by
yourselves included in the newsletter, don't hesitate to mail me.

Below is what is new, hot, and upcoming this week on the Chromiates
Wargaming Forums. Be sure to check the forum online at
http://forum.warhammerforum.com for additional information on
everything in this newsletter!

****Newsletter Debut****
As you may or have may not noticed, last week saw the appearance of
our first newsletter! That one was kindly written by ^Raven^, before I
valiantly stepped in to become editor of this prestigious newsletter!
I hope this goes well!

****Rumors/Sneak Peeks Abound for Games Workshop****
A lot of rumors and sneak peeks have been surfacing on the forum in
the world of Games Workshop, keep your eyes on these threads as they
are updated regularly!!!! In particular there are some hot Fantasy
rumors for Ogre Kingdoms
(http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2588.0), Wood Elves
(http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2295.0); 40k rumors
(updated!!) (http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2587.0),
and sneak peeks
(http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2396.0); plus Lord of
the Rings model sneak peeks
(http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2065.0).

****Games Workshop Storm of Chaos Campaign Started ****
After many long months of excruciating tension and build-up, through
what has seemed like an age of impatience and waiting, the Storm of
Chaos is finally here! Your armies now gathered, your enemies clear,
the time has come for you to register and record your battles, as the
battle for Middenheim begins!

****Forum's Online Fantasy Campaign Starting Up Again****
Steve_Hackett should be resuming the forum's online fantasy campaign
soon. After an intense start the campaign went on a short hiatus but
will be back in full force. Please visit the Online Campaign board at
http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/board,61.0 to stay up to
date.

****New Boards****
We, the forum have added a Non-GW Gaming Board that also has a child
board for all you Warmachine fans out there!!. In addition, this
board covers Flames of War, RPGing, and all other games not made by GW
(even board games!) We have also had Electronic Gameing Board for
about a month now! Hope you all are enjoying them!!

****Vote Chromiates!****
That's right! Chroniates is now #2 on the thewarp.net's Top 100
listing of Un-official GW websites!! Huzzah! Please vote for us over
at http://www.wabbithole.com/cgi-wabbithole/03/rankem.cgi?action=in&id=^raven^
you can also click the thing in the sidebar too! Soon, with you're
help, we can be the number one unofficial Games Workshop in the world,
and wouldn't that be great!

****Staff Member of the Month for June 2004: ^Raven^****
With this being our first weekly newsletter I decided to give June's
Staff/Member of the Month spot to myself to talk about the newsletter
and recent gaming events. Long time members will realize that this is
the first time we've ever produced a newsletter and may wonder why
we've waited so long. The truth be told is we've been working so hard
for the past year and a half to get CWF setup that producing a
newsletter was beyond our means until now. Luckily we have a stellar
staff and great core group of members who keep the forum going while
also having a high level of activity. Without those great people, who
know you are, it wouldn't be possible for me to take the time to
produce this issue of the newsletter.

The newsletter is our venue to bring what is hot, new, and important
from the Chromiates Wargaming Forums to you in the hope that you'll
stay abreast of all the activity. With the forum having grown
astronomically it can become overwhelming to stay up to date on all
the threads and posts. Hopefully the newsletter will make that less
overwhelming and more enjoyable. Each newsletter will contain news
blurbs on key threads or posts along with forum information or news.
In the last newsletter of the month a Staff Member or Member of the
Month blurb will appear chronicling either a staffer or member. This
will alternate to give everyone equal visibility. Near the bottom of
each newsletter a list of hot, new, and important threads with links
for you to visit.

We hope that everyone finds the newsletter enjoyable and that it
succeeds in its mission.

****MEMBERS SECTION****
This is the section where, you, the forum members can have your say!
Just mail me with your ideas for a column and I will get back to one
member a week! The article/column must relate to the forum. Remember
this is YOUR chance to speak!!

****New, Hot, and Important Threads****
Afraid you missed an awesome discussion? Worried we couldn't cover
everything in the newsletter? Check your fears at the door because
this is a list of the new, hot, and important threads we couldn't give
blurbs on but think you should check out anyway.

18 August 2004 @ 03:59 am
To keep readers of our LJ up to date on CWF we're posting our weekly newsletters here. This is our first one from June 30th, 2004. Enjoy!

Hello Everyone,

Below is what is new, hot, and upcoming this week on the Chromiates Wargaming Forums. Be sure to check the forum online at http://forum.warhammerforum.com for additional information on everything in this newsletter!

****Contest Winners Announced****
Our first forum contest draws to a close with the winners being announced. We had a decent outpouring of submissions but unfortunately not everyone can win. Be sure to visit http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2554.0 to find out who the winners are.

****Rumors/Sneak Peeks Abound for Games Workshop****
A lot of rumors and sneak peeks have been surfacing on the forum in the world of Games Workshop. In particular there are some hot Fantasy rumors for Ogre Kingdoms (http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2588.0), Wood Elves (http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2295.0); 40k rumors (http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2587.0), and sneak peeks (http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2396.0); plus Lord of the Rings model sneak peeks (http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2065.0). A lot of the information comes to us from our very own Rumor Master and moderator, Rinion, and that means it is trustworthy.

****Games Workshop Increases Prices****
Games Workshop is increasing the prices of their models due to the rising costs of tin and other metals. All kits, excluding core plastics and plastic vehicles who recently underwent a price increase, will have their prices increased. Visit http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2612.0 to find out more information on this topic.

****Forum’s Online Fantasy Campaign Starting Up Again****
Word has reached my ears that Steve_Hackett will be resuming the forum’s online fantasy campaign soon. After an intense start the campaign went on a short hiatus but will be back in full force. Please visit the Online Campaign board at http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/board,61.0 to stay up to date.

****Activity On the Rise****
The stats are in and forum activity once again is on the rise. Activity for June 2004 managed to outdo that of June 2003 in every single category. Some categories saw an increase of 145%. Unfortunately the month of June didn’t outpace May 2004 but that is to be expected with the start of summer. Eventhough summer is cause for people to go on vacation thus being away from their computers last month’s numbers are promising. We look forward to July 2004 being a banner month. You can view the stats by going to http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php?action=stats.

****Staff Member of the Month for June 2004: ^Raven^****
With this being our first weekly newsletter I decided to give June’s Staff/Member of the Month spot to myself to talk about the newsletter and recent gaming events. Long time members will realize that this is the first time we’ve ever produced a newsletter and may wonder why we’ve waited so long. The truth be told is we’ve been working so hard for the past year and a half to get CWF setup that producing a newsletter was beyond our means until now.

****Forum Outage****
On June 28th the forum experienced technical difficulties causing an outage. The forum is of course now fully operational. You can read more about the outage at http://forum.warhammerforum.com/index.php/topic,2067.msg24362#msg24362.

25 April 2004 @ 01:10 am
In an effort to show people that once upon a time I too used to paint my models I'm bringing back this article I wrote many moons ago. Despite what I've said of my talents in numerous threads on the forum, the method I describe in this article works and creates painted models that look decent enough.

I’ve been a devout Space Marines general for close to a year when I started getting those primeval urges to turn from the wonderful 41st Millennium to an earlier time. I mulled over the thought of abandoning my wonderful marines with their power armor and becoming engaged in the world of Warhammer and after many weeks of sleepless nights, I decided to take the plunge. With this under my belt, I now needed to pick an army and for me one of my greatest concerns in what army to play is not if it has cool special characters, good war machines, or special powers, but how easy it is to paint. I chose Space Marines for that reason and I narrowed my choices to an Undead army and a Chaos army. I liked some of the other armies available in Warhammer such as the Bretonnians (I absolutely love their knights) and of course the incredible Wood Elves with their famous archers, but those would require more effort on my part to paint than I’m capable of giving. I’m not as good a painter as I’d like to be and become easily frustrated when I have painting problems so I realized that although very easy, skeletons could be a pain to paint and I settled on Chaos. Part of me tried to stop myself; after all, my Space Marines valiantly fought Chaos on numerous occasions, but I just couldn’t prevent the evil gods of Chaos from corrupting me.
In order to make the painting even easier for me, I chose to field an army of only Chaos Warriors. It really doesn’t come much easier than that. The warriors are pretty straightforward when it comes how to paint them and they look great in dark colors with a tarnished metallic look. One day I picked up three regiment boxes of the wonderful new models and when I got home I went straight to work. Warriors are a good core choice and I was able to get a regiment painted pretty quickly, following a few simple steps.
I clipped and cleaned up all the bits from the sprues and laid them out so that I could find the pieces quickly. I glued the bodies onto the bases and glued the arms and weapons onto the miniature. I feel that gluing the body onto the base gives me something stable to hold onto while I paint so it is always the first thing I do. Before I went any further I had to decide what colors I wanted to use on my troops. I decided that I would use Chaos Black, Chainmail, Red Gore, Blood Red, Snot Green, Skull White, Bleached Bone, and Elf Flesh.
Get a bunch of your guys together and prime them with Chaos Black. You can use spray paint to get this done really quick, but I grab my Citadel tank brush and do each one by hand because I try to avoid getting black onto the bases. Put them aside so they can dry and take some more of your guys and prime them until the entire regiment is primed.
Once you are finished priming your troops black you can start on the next step. Take Chainmail and lightly dry brush the entire figure. Most of the figures are encased in a full suit of armor so you can get away with this whereas with other troop types you can’t. If some of your troops have heads that are not in helmets do not dry brush the head with Chainmail! I use a paper towel to wipe the excess paint off because I find that it is durable enough to take the paint off and if you need a little more on your brush you can take it from the towel without going back into the paint jar.
Since dry brushing doesn’t put a lot of paint on the models they dry in next to no time at all. By the time I finished dry brushing my second warrior the first one was already dry. Once all of the models are dry brushed I decide if I want to paint any areas of their armor such as shoulder-pads or their weapons in Chainmail. I pick out a few guys and do this to make the regiment unique so that all the guys look like individuals.
At this point I start picking out some more detail on the models. After they are dry brushed you could just paint their bases and play with them but I like the look that I get with adding some more color. I put some Red Gore on my brush and dry brush some areas of armor and tips of their weapons. I like the look that this gives because it makes the troops appear as if they’ve been in countless battles and still have the blood of enemies worn into their armor and weapons. I also paint a shoulder pad and a gloved fist with Red Gore as a unifying color for the regiment to show that these guys are all from the same unit.
Now I take Blood Red and paint the shields, chest plates, and occasional groin of the figures to add a little more color. I tone this down with a light dry brush of Skull White. At the same time I paint the horns on the helmets Skull White. I let the first coat dry and then put a second coat on because the horns have been primed with Chaos Black. Then I put two coats of Bleached Bone on the horns. To add a bit of variety you can leave some of the horns with just the two coats of Skull White.
By now we’re almost done and if you’re like me you paint late at night so your hands may be getting tired and your eyes might be confusing Elf Flesh with Dwarf Flesh. Don’t worry, we’re almost done and soon you will have a fully painted regiment of deadly Chaos Warriors.
Now, paint models with visible faces using Elf Flesh. Put on a few coats, I find that between two and three works best, on the faces of the models. You can paint the eyes or add more expression to the face but since we’re trying to paint these quickly I skip over that. I’m also extremely bad at painting faces and my models look terrible when I attempt to paint their faces with any sort of detail.
At the same time that the faces are drying you can do the final step. Well, not really the final step because when painting miniatures the job is never completed. Take Snot Green and paint all the bases of the models. I had to put more than one coat and patch up some areas on some models because I got a little sloppy with the Chainmail and Chaos Black. Let the paint dry and you have 12 completed warriors.
To paint a full regiment it took me between 30 and 45 minutes but I’m still somewhat of a beginner at this and it takes me a little longer to paint my miniatures. For some of you it will take less time and others slightly longer. Don’t worry if you make mistakes while painting the miniatures because you can always go back and patch up a spot or dab a little off with a paper towel if the paint is still wet. If you have the time you can always go back and spruce up some of the models by adding more detail to the faces or putting an extra touch to the legs. You can also flock the bases, add static grass and of course pay more attention to your champion, musician, and standard-bearer, as they are a focal point of the regiment.

It has been over a month since I last put out ^Raven^'s Whining and I have more to say. There has been a lot of discussion on the forum lately about the different editions of 40k and the rulesets so what better for me to make a diatribe about? Low GW prices?, free paint?, never losing?...a gamer knows not about these things. Since those are ruled out I'll continue with a discourse on the various editions of 40k.

I got into the game several years ago in the current 3rd edition. I've never know anything before it but it seems that I got into the game with the wrong edition. There's all this talk about how great 2nd edition was with its virtual limitless cheese and power gaming oops I mean freedom and extremely complicated....I mean advanced rules. But, in the not too distant future 40k will be undergoing yet another transformation, this time from 3rd to 4th edition. Already codices have been updated to fit into the new standard, Chaos Marines being the foremost in my mind.

But, what is a 3rd edition gamer like myself supposed to do? When 4th edition is released all of my codices, army lists, and my rulebook (that dastardly thing but I'll get to that shortly) will be out of date and I'll have to spend hundreds of dollars to re-purchase what I already have. Did I mention that the models will most likely be recast in newer versions so I'll have to buy those too! It'll be WFB Chaos all over again!

I used to know a couple guys who played 2nd edition and they swore that their group would never play 3rd because they had all the 2nd edition codices, rules, and whatnot. I called them cheap for refusing to spend the money on new stuff, cowards for not being willing to get with the time, and a slew of other things. Little did I know then that I would be one of the relics. For, there's few options available to a 3rd editioner like myself. We can acclimate to the new edition, modernizing our codices and armies. We can bow out of the game for all eternity, selling off all our 3rd edition stuff hoping we get enough money to buy a pack of gum at the corner store. Or, we can refuse to modernize and continue to play 3rd edition for all eternity living in a world of our own like hermits being unable to partake in any official tourneys, drawing strength on the arcane ways in an effort to prevent the embers from dying out.

What shall I do is beyond me, or perhaps, as the Oracle would declare, I've already made my decision and just need to realize why I made it. One thing I do know is that 4th edition had better not have a rulebook like 3rd edition does. I have yet to come across a rulebook as worthless as this and believe me I have put a lot of effort into doing so. The rulebook is extremely poorly laid out. The other day I was reading it in an attempt to re-familiarize myself with the rules in an effort to prepare for a July Eye of Terror gaming day at a nearby store when I realized that I couldn't find what I needed. So, I attempted to use the table of contents and index but surprisingly neither helped...did I mention there is no index? Every good publication has an index at the rear from Farmer's Almanac, Consumer Reports, to Bartlett's Familiar Quotations. The 3rd edition 40k rulebook does not.

Another major problem with the rulebook is the abundance of unneccessary army lists that fill pages 164-263. Excluding the horrible appendix, quick reference guides, and photo pages, we can say that only 128 pages are devoted to how to play the game. That means less than 49% of the rulebook helps people to play the game and approximately 51% of the rulebook is army lists with another 5-8% is practically useless stuff or at least less important than actual rules. These fill pages that should be filled with clear, concise and helpful rules along with a worthwhile table of contents and appendix. In 4th edition I hope this is an error they repair as they most assuredly will not be plugging the hole in the boat that is 3rd edition's rulebook.

Argle Bargle. Dont expect this to stay on topic people. anyway here we go

Man... this is getting tough. I recently talked to Neal at The War Store who has been nice enough to sell me some CSMs at a discount price. For those confused here the story. About 2 months into my now 7 month obsession with 3rd ed 40k (Mainly due to the fact that the only people i play fantasy with are my 2 friends, and i have about 5 that play 40k, no way in hell i'm gonna go play in a geek store) i picked up chaos word bearers. I Liked them alot. At the time i liked my eldar more, but the chaos started to grow on me. after about a month or two my army expanded to about 2500, and i was going to get more. Well, i ended up going broke (well i thought i was, i was checkign the wrong bank account it turns out) and so i sold them for quite a bit of money. Well Soon after i realised that Tau and Eldar just didnt fill the gap. Tau were fun and all, but they did get itresome, and Eldar. Well i hate people who play eldar (most not all). Hell my only gripe about Eldaronline is that they get so much cheese promotion (Starcannons over 3 in anything below 2k is waaay more then overkill. even Especially against poor SMs)

Even worse is the defenceless SM bashing, but that war has always been going on. Despite what most eldar players say, Eldar are easily the easiest army to win with due to sheer customization options. Hell you could be equipped to fight orcs then turn around and fight SMs and still kick the poor guys ass. Aspect warriors are easily some of the best fighters in the game. i mean, f*ck look at howling banshees. 4+ armour save, ignore armour saves, 2 attacks, and strike first. How the f*ck is that not just plain uber? and striking scoprions... man dont get me started. i've had a group of 5 with no exarch absolutely shred through a group of Incubi and an archon. Throw in fortune and you have a near unbeatable squad. it always bugs me to see people saying eldar need a new codex. my f*cking ass. Eldar already have one of the best most balanced codices out there, AND THEY NEED A NEW ONE??? f*ck that man. Know who needs a new codex? IG, SoB, Dark Eldar, and even more so tyranids. i mean, f*ck look at the wraithlord. Rock solid, one of the best CC units in the whole f*cking game, AND comes with a heavy weapon (f*cking cheesecannons). Why the hell doesnt anyone take brightlances anymore? Honestly! f*ck man i almost refuse to use starcannons, let alone en masse. My normal beil tan army has f*cking 2 TL BLs, 1-2 BLs on Wraithlords (depends if i'm using 1 or 2), and maybe one in a guardian squad. f*ck even that is overkill, but image if that was cheesecannons!

I also hate the defence of cheesecannons. a friend of mine over there (Moonsinger) wrote up a rather large and fairly accurate description of why Starcannons werent cheesey. Unfortunately, it was not near enough to convince me. I mean, f*ck look at it. You shoot one of those thats 2 garunteed shots at S6. For most things thats overkill.

The biggest thing i hate about EldarOnline is how people are constantly bragging about how they decimated some poor little 13 year old who just started playings space marine army. I mean its ok to win against him, he should expect to lose, BUT THERES NO f*ckING NEED TO ABSOLUTELY DEMOLISH HIS MORALE YOU SELF CENTERED COCK MONGER.

but all in all its still a great community. f*ck why would i have over 2650 posts there if i didnt think so. Some of the mods are pretty cool too though, Anivan Ra, Sandman, and AiR are all quite cool. Anivan is a pretty neat guy, i bought like 76 gaurdians for just 2 boxes of DE Spearmen and 20 bucks. Great Deal. there was some other stuff included as well (6 pathfinders and some FWs)

i offered more money and he wouldnt take it. its like he wanted to get ripped off. Hes a pretty cool guy, and a really good drawer. I'll upload them to my ranchoweb account and post them some time, hes got serious talent. His DE Sorc is one of the best i've seen. He sent in his resume into GW but those mother f*ckers never responded. oh well thier lose not his.

On the topic of art, another big mod there, The Sandman (yes the sandman from portent) is another very talented artist. I remember staying up one night and talking to him as he was colouring this fantastic drawing. he was sending me the whole process. It inspired me to learn to use photoshop again. I used to do a little bit but god, i dont even remember the slightest little thing now. Oh well i'll learn eventually. I bet a good JTHM picture would look cool coloured. hell i think thats what JV used to colour the back of Squees big book of horrors. And i assume its what Rikki Simmons used to colour in I feel sick 1 & 2.

On that topic i need to order the new squee shirt. its quite cool. i'd get a link but i dont feel like it right now.

Didnt i have a topic at the begining of this? oh yes, anyway. I've been getting real tempted to add 3 boxes of cadians to my order, and use a LotD army list. It seems very solid, and its the way imperial armies should be (Space Marines being elites and lords and such). I'm quite excited, but i still need to think up the name for my custom Legion. I might end up going a variation of Red corsairs. The army is gonna be f*cking huge though. Easily enough to play IW, Word Bearers, Thousand sons, Night Lords, and if i buy the cadian models, alpha legion. I'm kind of excited because i'm ordering a Daemon Prince, and i've never used one before. I know its a big point sink, but i have a soft spot for totally badass heros while neglecting the rest of my army. i do it in WHFB all the time. Hell usually 20-30% of my armies are all heros, but for DE it gets to the point where its quite essential. Especially when i use my 40 CoKs list. I've been testing a new one out and its fun as hell. Here let me get it. Its alot smaller then i usually play (Its only 2k, i usually go at about 3k) but its still fun. Its not hard to convert over to 3k either. Its focues on magic and dark riders, its not the most effeceint list i have ever made, but its by far one of the most fun (having 2 12 man CoK units fail stupidity when they have a hero in them is NOT COOL

Everyone else has started their own column, so I figured I'd throw my two cents in as well. I'm not really sure how regular this'll be; hopefully every week or two (basically whenever I feel like going off on a rant about something). So, without further ado...my first edition of Freeze's Frozen Ramblings:

Just picked up the new White Dwarf and I gotta hand it to GW, they've done some interesting fluff for the campaign. The biggest thing I've been sucked into is the "mystery" surrounding Cypher. All I know is that anyone who can take on a C'tan and survive, is a BEAST...so it should be interesting to see how that plays out. The thing I'm MOST interesting in though, is the Harlequins. Over the past few weeks, I've been looking at the army list and the models, and I want_that_army. Andy Chambers made a "promise" a while back that no matter how long it took, an official list for the 'ole Harlies would be released, no matter how long it took. It'll be a joyous day when it comes...

I've also been painting up some of my sisters for the upcoming GT if I can get 'em together. If any of you have seen Kelly Kim's sisters army, I'm going for a look similar to that. I think I've achieved my goal so far (I love bright highlights ). I'm just curious as to what the Codex: Witch Hunters will bring in December...

Lastly (though I'm sure none of you really care), I want to bitch about my site and our hosting problems. We've been through 3 hosts in 2 years, which ain't really good for buisness. We're currently switching to our 4th host and thankfully retaining our domain. I just wish that the gaming community wasn't so fickle. Communities and networks have come together, split, totally shut down...it's just getting annoying. And since our site doesn't have the cash to get it's own server, we're stuck in the middle of it 'cause we have to have somebody as the host! How disturbing...arg!

Well, that's all for my current rant. You guys can post replys, comments, opinions, or whatever you wish about my Ramblings here. Check in later for my next installment!
